【摘要】:Liquidpenetranttestingmethodsindicatethepresence,locationand,toalimitedextent,thenatureandmagnitudeofthedetecteddiscontinuities.Eachofthevariouspenetrantmethodshasbeendesignedforspecificusessuchascriticalserviceitems,volumeofparts,portabilityorlocalizedareasofexamination.Themethodselectedwilldependaccordinglyonthedesignandservicerequirementsofthepartsormaterialsbeingtested.1.1Thispracticecoversproceduresforpenetrantexaminationofmaterials.Penetranttestingisanondestructivetestingmethodfordetectingdiscontinuitiesthatareopentothesurfacesuchascracks,seams,laps,coldshuts,shrinkage,laminations,throughleaks,orlackoffusionandisapplicabletoin-process,final,andmaintenancetesting.Itcanbeeffectivelyusedintheexaminationofnonporous,metallicmaterials,ferrousandnonferrousmetals,andofnonmetallicmaterialssuchasnonporousglazedorfullydensifiedceramics,aswellascertainnonporousplastics,andglass.1.2Thispracticealsoprovidesareference:1.2.1Bywhichaliquidpenetrantexaminationprocessrecommendedorrequiredbyindividualorganizationscanbereviewedtoascertainitsapplicabilityandcompleteness.1.2.2Foruseinthepreparationofprocessspecificationsandproceduresdealingwiththeliquidpenetranttestingofpartsandmaterials.Agreementbythecustomerrequestingpenetrantinspectionisstronglyrecommended.Allareasofthispracticemaybeopentoagreementbetweenthecognizantengineeringorganizationandthesupplier,orspecificdirectionfromthecognizantengineeringorganization.1.2.3Foruseintheorganizationoffacilitiesandpersonnelconcernedwithliquidpenetranttesting.1.3Thispracticedoesnotindicateorsuggestcriteriaforevaluationoftheindicationsobtainedbypenetranttesting.Itshouldbepointedout,however,thatafterindicationshavebeenfound,theymustbeinterpretedorclassifiedandthenevaluated.Forthispurposetheremustbeaseparatecode,standard,oraspecificagreementtodefinethetype,size,location,anddirectionofindicationsconsideredacceptable,andthoseconsideredunacceptable.1.4Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.SIunitsareprovidedforinformationonly.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
